Over the past decade the Novel Collection has grown to become one of the largest typeface super families. Now the typeface collection got extended by a display version in five widths — Novel Display. The new family of 50 styles in total was designed especially for the use in headlines, titles and logotypes. With this latest addition the award winning Novel Collection now consists of 136 fonts.
All typeface families of the Novel Collection have a carefully attuned character design and a well balanced weight contrast. The fine gradation of 10 weights and 5 widths enable designers to combine the design with other members of the Novel Collection to create high quality typography.
Novel Display [788 glyphs] comes in 50 styles and contains an extra set of alternate glyphs, many ligatures, lining figures [proportionally spaced and monospaced], hanging figures [proportionally spaced and monospaced], positive and negative circled figures for upper and lower case, superior and inferior figures, fractions, extensive language support, arrows for uppercase and lowercase and many more OpenType™ features.
The designer of Novel Christoph Dunst says: “The Novel Collection already was pretty extended but it didn’t feel complete without a set of display weights. To be honest, when I started designing Novel about ten years ago I didn’t expect it to keep us busy until now. But the development of a humanist super family takes lots of time and effort — and if you want a typeface collection to offer a wide range of options within its system to a designer there is no way around it.”
