Design Indaba takes place at Cape Town’s Artscape theatre from March 1-4. Senegalese fashion designer Selly Raby Kane was appointed creative director of the festival this year and has curated a diverse line-up of talks and events spanning music, art, film and design.

The conference also aims to champion African creativity. (Govera was orphaned age seven and now runs The Future of Hope Foundation, which teaches people in developing countries how to farm mushrooms using coffee waste). A Global Graduates programme of talks will introduce emerging creative talent from around the world.
Alongside the conference, the festival programme includes a nightly series of talks, screenings and live music performances. Selly Raby Kane has also curated interactive artworks and installations for the venue. Exhibitions at the Artscape will showcase emerging creative talent in South Africa and shortlisted entries to a competition to find the country’s most beautiful object.
