Effective immediately, the London-based Bamford Watch Department is the authorized customization partner of TAG Heuer. You might remember that just a few months ago, BWD and Zenith announced a formal partnership, and it looks like things must be going well, as now another LVMH watch brand is being added to the mix. With Jean-Claude Biver leading both brands, it’s not a huge surprise that
To start, there are three base models to choose from, the automatic Carrera Calibre 5, the new 2017 Autavia chronograph, and the classic Monaco chronograph. You can choose from various case and bracelet coatings, change the colors of the dial, hands, and accents, choose from some special straps too. The examples shown here all have that signature Bamford style, which is primarily black, with bold colorful accents and a bit of an aggressive edge, however you can mix and match the components to get nearly any look you’d like.
The new customized TAG Heuer watches are available through a number of sales channels. If you want to do everything online, you can, customizing your watch with an interactive tool on Bamford’s website and ordering directly from there. Alternately, there will be stock pieces in colorways like those show here available at select Bamford and TAG Heuer retailers worldwide, including the likes of Dover Street Market and Colette (despite the latter closing later this year). It seems like if you’re going to go this route though, it’s the full-on customizer that you’ll want to go for, making sure you get the exact watch you want.
Because of the vast number of options (BWD and TAG are saying there are billions of possible combinations, though I haven’t run those numbers myself), pricing varies greatly between models and styles. However, prices start at £4,500 (approximately $5,950 at time of publishing) for the Carrera Calibre 5, which is a significant premium over the watch’s usual $2,400 base price.
