Mural 2017: Work in progress by INSA in Montreal

London based artist by the name of INSA is currently in Montreal for the fifth edition of MURAL International Public Art Festival where he is completing an amazing piece which begins from a flower bud together with one side of the world that starts with a can of spray paint, and it looks like INSA is showing where the world hasn’t yet been painted… From the outline, it looks like in the end there is going to be a full bloomed flower and something else…

Over the last couple of years, renowned graffiti writer turned artist INSA has taken his practice to the next level. Working with projects as ambitious as filming from space and globe-hopping to produce seconds’ worth of looping-animated artwork, he has proved himself to be a true visionary. In the process, he has amassed tens of millions of views online for his stunning video projects. Originally famous for his ubiquitous ‘Graffiti Fetish’ artwork that focused on issues of modern aspirations, his visual motifs confront the fetishization of products in modern society and the commodification of success and ambition. Known for his mind-bending ‘GIF-ITI’ work, which is underpinned by the conflicting qualities of online versus offline life, the artist continues to pursue his interest in confounding concepts of time and space, the ways in which we process and consume, and the transience of both art and object.
